Two Kinds of Blessing: Those Bestowed and Those We Must Take Hold

There are two kinds of blessings

There are two kinds of blessings. Those that are bestowed and those we must take hold.

This is a season of blessing. But we must take hold of it.

There are two kinds of blessings. But some you must take hold.

It is all around us and almost tangible. It is available to all who will walk in it. But some may miss it if we don’t realize that there are different kinds of blessings. There are those that pour out from heaven like rain upon a parched land and then their are blessings that are available to us but we must take hold of them. The latter blessings are waiting for us, but we must possess them.

As I was asking the Lord about this and reading back through Deuteronomy 28: 1-14, I sensed the Holy Spirit take me back to verse 1, “Now it shall be if you will diligently obey the Lord your God being careful to do all His commandments which I command…”

There it is. The blessings that follow verse 1 require obedience and a diligent endeavor to take hold of them. They aren’t just poured out from heaven because we ask. It requires we act to possess them.

Since fall of last year the Lord has been speaking to me over and over again about the process of leaving Egypt (slavery and lack), seasons of the wilderness (just enough) and entering the Promised Land (blessing and inheritance). So it was no surprise as the Holy Spirit sent me back to Deuteronomy 26 surrounding that same scenario.

Do you want to receive the blessing of outpouring as well as the blessing of your Promised Land–the dream He has placed in your heart–your seat of authority? This is what the Lord said,

“Then it shall be, when you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance, and you possess it and live in it…“(Deuteronomy 26:1)

Step 1 – We must enter the land.

This requires an action on our part to take hold of that which is in front of us to possess it and then live in it. It’s not just enough to possess it. We have to then remain in it and live in it. (Remember the Israelites? They had to drive out the giants in the land to possess it. So possessing our inheritance and the blessing He has in this season isn’t always easy, but it is waiting for us.

“That you shall take some of he first of all the produce of the ground which you shall bring in from your land that the Lord your God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place where the Lord your God chooses to establish His name.” (Deuteronomy 26:2)

Step 2 – We must take some of the first fruits from our Promised Land once we enter into it and take it and offer it where God chooses.

This is going to mess with some people’s theology, but I sensed the Lord speak to me that this is why some do not walk in their complete inheritance. Although we may have tried to enter into our Promised Land (that place/dream God has spoken into your heart which is your land and your possession) that we must also walk in Step 2 which is to bring our offering of first fruits to Him and offer it at the place He chooses.

As you know the first fruits offering isn’t the tithe which is given to the storehouse (the place you are fed) it is an offering of firsts, from the best of the new land you have taken hold, and giving it where He chooses. That requires sitting with Him, listening, obeying, giving and releasing.

And you shall go to the priest who is in office at that time, and say to him, ‘I declare this day to the Lord my God that I have entered the land which the Lord swore to our father’s to give us.'” (Deuteronomy 26:3)

Step 3 – We must DECLARE that we have entered the land and taken possession of our Promised Land.

As we give we also take hold. In this action we are sealing the inheritance He has given us that it will not be stolen.

It is coming into agreement with His Promise that it is now ours and we are taking possession of it to walk in it. The land is no longer vacant. There is a sign of ownership in the yard that declares it is yours.

I saw it much like a house that is for sale has a “For Sale” sign in front until the new ownerThere are two kinds of blessings comes in and takes possession of the house. Then the “For Sale” sign comes down because the house is no longer available.

The new resident has not only entered the house, but is living in it and remaining there. They have taken ownership. To possess your Promised Land you must also take ownership of that land.

I also sensed the Lord say that some have taken their Promised Land, but are treating it like a rental property. You have taken the land, but you are not yet living in it and remaining in it. In fact, others are living in your property and you can’t understand why you aren’t walking in the full blessing.

It’s because you have given it to others, but He is saying this is YOUR POSSESSION. It is YOUR inheritance. It is not a rental property. It is your property and possession. But you must remain in it.

This is a word to you today to take your Promised Land. You know what that Promised Land is as God has deposited  is in your heart. Even now as you read this, the Lord is prompting you, reminding you of that vision He has placed within you and if you don’t know exactly where it is you know what it is.  Ask Him where it is . It is available to you, but you must enter it, possess it, offer the first fruits from it, declare it and then live in it. It requires action. It requires obedience.

This is a season of blessing. Don’t just settle for that which is poured out. Receive all the blessing—that which includes your inheritance of the Promised Land. It is time to enter your Promised Land, possess it and live in it.

I would love to hear from you and what the Lord is speaking to you regarding your Promised Land. Please post your comments below or email me here.
